Perhaps Canelo’s apology came a little too late, as the Internet is being viciously hostile to him.
Leo Messi, the great player for Argentina, rarely speaks back when he receives criticism and usually responds on the field. Almost always, the evidence shows that Leo doesn’t even mean to reply.
That’s exactly what occurred with Canelo, who after the threats on Saturday rose to the top of Argentina’s Public Enemy List. It took him almost four days to finally accept responsibility and face reality. Although karma enthusiasts may argue that poetic justice is quite real, the apology came too late for Mexico. Mexico was eliminated on the day that was the most crucial for both national teams due to a Messi missed a penalty.
Leo would have undoubtedly assisted El Tri in advancing to the Round of 16 had he scored that goal. Following the conclusion of both fights, Twitter users persistently sent Canelo memes that are sure to make everyone laugh.
Even though it’s obvious that Messi’s missed penalty was just a coincidence, some people enjoy joking that Canelo experienced some of that quick karma. Consider the memes that follow the tweet from @NoContextFootball below, which depicts Lewandowski surreptitiously speaking to Messi after the final whistle.

Canelo has yet to hear from Messi, and he most likely won’t.
Leo Messi constantly tries his best to avoid any sort of scandal, like he has done for so many years. He’d probably avoid answering a question concerning Canelo’s threats if a reporter dared to ask him about them. Leo likely will be appreciative of all the support from his friends and followers because he dislikes this kind of confrontation. He won’t respond in any way to Canelo’s threats, though. All these memes will react to the boxer much better than anything Messi can say about the settled dispute, but it’s just not his style.
