The Al Janoub Stadium is one of the stadiums in Qatar that will be used in the 2022 World Cup. The stadium seats 45,000 and cost $717 million to build. Al Janoub Stadium is one of four stadiums being built as part of a stadium renovation project which started in April 2015 and is expected to be completed by 2020. The Al Janoub Stadium was designed by Populous, an architecture firm headquartered in London, United Kingdom. Populous has been involved in the planning for all four of Qatar’s stadium projects for the 2022 World Cup.
The plan is motivated by the sails of conventional dhow boats, in recognition for Al Wakrah’s nautical past.
A creative cooling framework and retractable rooftop mean the arena will be utilized throughout the entire year.
The arena was planned by AECOM and Zaha Hadid Designers.
Al Janoub Park, inside the area, opened in February 2020. It highlights cycling and running tracks, kids’ play regions and other green spaces. Ultimately, there will be a commercial center and local area offices, including a mosque and school.

How to get there
Al Janoub Arena is served by an organization of new interstates and streets which give simple admittance to inhabitants and guests to both Al Wakrah and Doha. The arena will be served by Al Wakrah station on the Red Line of the Doha Metro. The station is found 4.5km from the arena and will be served by transport administrations on match days. The region has devoted transport stops, interconnected cycling ways and safe walker courses.
