Poland Vs Argentina Results | Second-half goals send Argentina to World Cup round of 16

Poland Vs Argentina Results

Argentina defeated Poland in the second half to overcome them and go to the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup. Despite the loss, Poland still advanced as Group C runners-up.

Lionel Messi missed a first-half penalty for Argentina, which was dominant against Poland. Poland only advanced to a draw against the current champions France as a result of Mexico’s 2-1 victory against Saudi Arabia in the section’s other match. Australia and Argentina will square off in the round of 16.

Poland Vs Argentina Results

Argentina dominated the first half, with Messi nearly scoring twice in the opening ten minutes. They had trouble producing clear chances, though; Marcos Acuna missed a shot just before the half-hour mark, and Wojciech Szczesny stopped Alvarez from scoring.

After a VAR review, the goalie was found to have fouled Messi from the ensuing cross, but he atoned for his error by diving to his left and raising his right hand to save Messi’s penalty.

Argentina would not have to wait long, though, as Nahuel Molina’s cutback from the right was beautifully turned in by Mac Allister for his first goal in international play 60 seconds into the second session.

Poland attempted to respond quickly, as Kamil Glik dragged a header agonisingly beyond the post. However, Argentina appeared more likely to score next, and they did it in the 68th minute when Alvarez collected a feed from Enzo Fernandez and found the back of the net.

Lacking any offensive threat from Poland, Messi and Alvarez both came close to scoring a third goal. They were fortunate not to concede when Lautaro Martinez was put through by Jakub Kiwior’s errant ball but his effort was missed. In extra time, the centre defender headed Nicolas Tagliafico’s chip off the line, which was critical for Poland.

Confirmed lineups:

Argentina (4-3-3, right to left): 23. E. Martinez (GK) — 26-Molina, 13. Romero, 19. Otamendi, 8. Acuna — 7. De Paul, 24. Fernandez, 20. Mac Allister  — 10. Messi, 9. Alvarez, 11. Di Maria

Poland (4-4-2, right to left): 1. Szczesny (GK) — 2. Cash, 15. Glik, 14. Kiwior, 18. Bereszynski — 20. Zielinski, 6. Bielik, 10. Krychowiak, 24. Frankowski — 16. Swiderski, 9. Lewandowski

FULLTIME Argentina recorded an ultimately easy victory to claim top place in Group C and set up a round of 16 matchup against Australia. The outcome of this match has long ago been determined. Meanwhile, Poland must wait to see how Mexico plays against Saudi Arabia; if Mexico scores again in the dying seconds, they will advance.

Poland is now moving on to the round of 16, where they will face the defending champions, France, thanks to a goal from Saudi Arabia.

Jakub Kiwior has saved Poland in this situation as Nicolas Tagliafico rushes into the box and attempts to clip a shot over Wojciech Szczesny, but the covering central defender jumps back and heads the ball off the line.

90 mins: Here, add six additional minutes. Although Argentina likewise appears to have let up, it is difficult to imagine Poland scoring.

Big moment at 86 minutes! Lautaro Martinez intercepts Jakub Kiwior’s pass, but despite having the goal at his disposal, the substitute misses wide! That might have made Poland irrelevant.

84 minutes: Poland makes one last gamble, substituting forward Krzysztof Pitek for midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak in the closing minutes.

As Thiago Almada enters the game, he makes World Cup history by becoming the first MLS player to represent Argentina.

81 min. Although Lautaro Martinez, who has just entered the game, sought an early cross there and is out of luck, Nahuel Molina has been a key outlet for Argentina along the right side of the field in this second half.

Grzegorz Krychowiak is listed in the book at minute 78 for restraining Alexis MacAllister. A reminder that Poland is presently ranked first for fair play…

75 minutes: Poland has provided almost little forward energy so far tonight, and another goal for either Argentina or Mexico in the closing minutes will undoubtedly put an end to their World Cup 2022 participation.

73 minutes: Argentina regains possession after Julian Alvarez is released free on the right by Lionel Messi, but his angle shot into the sidenetting is high and misses the goal.

71 minutes: Lionel Messi had a chance to put this game to rest at that point, but he mishits the ball and Wojciech Szczesny blocks it with his body.

GOAL! After 68 minutes, Argentina has won without a doubt! Julian Alvarez makes an excellent finish by receiving a feed from Enzo Fernandez and shooting low into the corner of the goal!

Furthermore, it’s a goal that pushes Poland to the limit! They are now tied with Mexico for second place on points, goal differential, and goals scored, but only on disciplinary points.

66 minutes: Poland is once more surrounded. Despite all of their substitutions, they haven’t offered Robert Lewandowski any assistance or support.

Krystian Bielik is replaced by Damian Szymaski in the 62nd minute. Poland must immediately change the course of events.

61 minutes in: Argentina is still searching for what would undoubtedly be the game-winning second goal. Lionel Messi found Nicolas Tagliafico down the left flank, and the substitute then crossed for Alexis Mac Allister, who scored the game’s first goal, but his shot was straight at Wojciech Szczesny.

59 minutes: Leandro Paredes and Nicolas Tagliafico are now playing for Argentina, replacing Marcos Acuna and Angel Di Maria.

56 mins: As shots from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi are being stopped, we learn that Mexico has a 2-0 lead over Saudi Arabia. Poland’s lead is now just one goal.

Since falling behind, Poland has undoubtedly displayed a little more adventure, but on the opposite side, there are more and more openings for Argentina to take advantage of on the break.

52 mins: With Poland coming in second, Argentina advances as the group C victor thanks to that goal. Mexico has seized the lead in the other game, according to the latest news. That’s advantageous for Poland, whose situation is yet perilous.

50 min. : Kamil Glik meets the ball with his head after Piotr Zielinski’s free kick, and his effort flies barely past Emiliano Martinez’s right post.

Marcos Acuna was the first player to be called for a foul this evening at 49 minutes for a foul on Michal Skoras.

Poland vs Argentina results

GOAL! 46 minutes in: Argentina scores, but it’s our goal! The one to deliver it is Alex Mac Allister, who responded to Nahuel Molina’s excellent cutback with a low finish into the far corner!

46 minutes: We’re back in action, and Poland has made two substitutions, with Jakub Kaminski and Michal Skoras replacing Przemyslaw Frankowski and Karol Swiderski.

Poland Vs Argentina Results

A breathless first half, in which Argentina dominated despite not scoring a goal, has come to a conclusion. Poland is expected to advance as the group’s victor, while their opponents finished in second place. However, a goal in either game may change everything.

45 mins: At the conclusion of this half, three extra minutes will be added. Even though they must be perplexed as to why their team isn’t in front, Argentina supporters are still cheering loudly.

It’s now Juventus winger Angel Di Maria’s chance to threaten, but his low shot goes straight down the goalkeeper’s throat at the 44-minute mark.

43 minutes: Argentina keeps up the pressure. Wojciech Szczesny blocks Julian Alvarez’s shot, and he is lucky because the rebound loops up into his arms.

DAMAGE AVOIDED! 39 minutes in: Lionel Messi enters the game as Argentina looks for his eighth straight goal. He strikes the ball to Wojciech Szczesny’s left, but Szczesny makes the correct prediction and slaps it away at full length. Amazing save!

ARGENTINA IS SUFFERING! After visiting the VAR review area, Danny Makkelie determined that Lionel Messi’s challenge by the goalie merited a penalty kick at 38 minutes.

36 min: Wojciech Szczesny makes a wonderful save to keep Julian Alvarez from getting to Alexis MacAllister’s cross, but Argentina regains control, and as the ball travels beyond him, the goalkeeper collides with Lionel Messi.

33 minutes: Wojciech Szczesny nearly catches out Angel Di Maria from the right flank, as the goalkeeper reaches out to deflect his cross-shot.

32 mins: Robert Lewandowski is very alone in this situation. Feeding solely on leftovers, with appalling customer service and support.

29 mins: Argentina has only gotten that close. Although Marcos Acuna has never scored for his country, he seizes on the loose ball and shoots just past the post from the edge of the box after Julian Alvarez’s attempt is stopped.

27 minutes: Poland is currently unable to leave. There is no way to release the pressure because they have everyone confined to their own half and there is no out ball.

24 minutes: Argentina has Poland pinned again, but it is proving difficult to find any space due to the weight of the numbers.

21 minutes in: Poland appears to have survived the early Argentina storm, but they’ll still want to serve Robert Lewandowski more often.

17 minutes: Marcos Acuna was played in by Lionel Messi with a beautiful pass down the left. Although cutting back with his left foot, the Argentine midfielder is unable to keep the shot down.

Piotr Zielinski’s square pass is intercepted by Argentina counter leader Enzo Fernandez at the 15-minute mark. In the box, he decides to try to find Julian Alvarez, but his pass is too strong.

Argentina has had a quick start, but if Poland can win the ball back, there is plenty of room behind them. a strong, open beginning to the game.

10 minutes in: Wojciech Szczesny blocks another shot from Lionel Messi at his near post, this time with his left foot and from the left side.

7th minute: On the outskirts of the Poland area, Lionel Messi loses the ball but recovers it. He attempts a right-foot shot as defenders close in, but Wojciech Szczesny is able to comfortably stop it.

5 minutes: Poland now has a good chance as Robert Lewandowski did well to bring the ball back for Krystian Bielik, who couldn’t connect cleanly and saw his shot blocked.

In a very pro-Argentina environment, they have created a good first impression by winning a corner in the first three minutes. Argentina regains control as Lionel Messi fails to beat the first defender, and Nicolas Otamendi is given a headed opportunity at the far post, but he misses it wide.

KICKOFF: Let’s get going with Poland. Just a short recap of the Group C situation: Poland is in first place with four points, one more than both Argentina and Saudi Arabia combined. Both the European team and Argentina will advance with a draw, while the European team needs a win to guarantee a spot in the round of 16. Saudi Arabia and Mexico will also advance if their match goes evenly.

Iran Vs USA Results

The United States won 1-0 over Iran in a crucial match to move to the knockout round of the 2022 World Cup, and it was tight, nerve-wracking, and heartbreaking at times for American supporters.

Christian Pulisic, who scored in the 38th minute and suffered an injury in the process, provided the biggest moment of his USMNT career in order to progress with just a win. The American player risked injury to advance the United States, taking a knee to the stomach from Iran goalie Alireza Beiranvand in the process.

At halftime, Pulisic was removed, and the United States clung on for dear life the rest of the way as Iran threw numbers forward as the clock wound down.

Even though there were nine extra minutes at the end of regulation time, Iran was unable to score the crucial goal.

With the victory, the United States has the opportunity to compete in the Round of 16, where they will play the Group A champions Netherlands on Saturday. The USA’s minimal objective was to go past the group stage, and with this valiant victory, they have succeeded.

There are still a lot of unanswered issues regarding the U.S. attack, which scored just two goals in the three group-stage games, but their defence was outstanding as they allowed just one goal and none from open play.

Confirmed lineups:

USA (4-3-3, right to left): 1. Turner (GK) — 2. Dest (Moore, 82′), 20. Carter-Vickers, 13. Ream, 5. Robinson — 8. McKennie, 4. Adams, 6. Musah — 21. Weah (Zimmerman, 82′), 24. Sargent (Wright, 77′), 10. Pulisic (Aaronson, 46′).

Iran (4-4-2, right to left): 1. Beiranvand (GK) — 23. Rezaeian, 19. Hosseini, 8. Pouraliganji, 5. Mohammadi (Karimi, 45′) — 17. Gholizadeh, 21. Nourollahi (Torabi, 71′), 6. Ezatolahi, 3. Safi (Jalali, 71′) — 20. Azmoun (Ghoddos, 46′), 9. Taremi.

Iran continues to yell for a penalty at the very end, but there is no call, and the referee instead blows the final whistle. The United States progresses to the next round! Iran is eliminated in the meantime.

The winning goal is scored by Christian Pulisic, who also suffers an injury in the process. The rest of the team managed to win 1-0 by hanging on by their chinny chin hairs. The biggest moment of Pulisic’s career occurs when Gregg Berhalter arranges for this side to score the World Cup’s bare minimum goal, ending a run of five games without a victory.

90+9: Haji Wright gains possession of the ball and attempts to fire, but his shot is feeble and goes straight to Alireza Beiranvand.

Iran vs Usa

Chance, Iran, at 90+8 minutes! WOW! The penalty area is chaotic, and the ball squirms through Matt Turner’s legs before being eventually cleared and rolling slowly over the line. Cameron Carter-Vickers appeared to bring Mehdi Taremi down with a hand on his shoulder, and Iran is yelling for him to be given a penalty. However, the VAR check has ended without a review.

90+6: Yunus Musah receives a straightforward yellow card for being pulled back by Abolfazl Jalali after the American midfielder had won the ball and was attempting to make a break. There are at least three more minutes of extra time left.

Iranian chance at 90+2 minutes! After a foul, Iran has a very dangerous set-piece opportunity from the left wing. Morteza Pouraliganji dives for the incisive ball and gets his head on it, but his shot just misses the near post. He had a great chance to score, and probably ought to have.

U.S. capitalises on a few midfield free kicks in the 89th minute. A break of nine minutes is about to begin.

Brenden Aaronson does well to find space on the left side near the end line in the 87th minute. However, his raised looper in front of goal just misses Haji Wright, and Shaq Moore’s follow-up is off target.

This is tense at minute 86. Iran is in charge of the ball while the US is hanging on for dear life. Iran is unable to make a shot, but they are in a perilous situation with the ball. So far, the American defenders seem steadfast. At the top of the area, Tyler Adams makes a superb tackle.

82nd minute: OUCH! After what seems like an eternity, Matt Turner finally catches the ball after it pops into the air well above the goal mouth. Iran players are claiming there was a handball, but replays disprove this. A player on Iran’s bench receives a yellow card.

80th minute: A very physical battle has broken out in the game. It’s awful to see Josh Sargent leaving the field with tears in his eyes. Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore are about to replace Tim Weah and Sergino Dest as more substitutes for the USMNT are being prepared. Gregg Berhalter will aim for a 1-0 victory. This will be the last 15 minutes, which will seem like an hour.

Josh Sargent is down and gripping his ankle in the 74th minute after awkwardly touching the ball. He takes extensive care and leaves the field with a limp. He appears to need to be replaced because Haji Wright will now take his place. Majid Hosseini is given a warning for tackling Brenden Aaronson far too late.

Iran’s Saeid Ezatolahi takes aim from a distance but misses the mark in the 70th minute. As time runs out, Iran starts to increase pressure, and it’s crunch time for the United States.

Mehdi Torabi and Abolfazl Jalali are brought on as substitutes in place of Haji Safi and Ahmad Nourollahi.

The United States had a chance on the set-piece in the 68th minute after Brenden Aaronson is fouled in the middle of the box. Kellyn Acosta, who is on the pitch and is their best free-kick taker, is called off by Yunus Musah, who then kicks the ball over. To be fair, it was really close to the 18-yard box from a central position, one of the trickiest places to go on goal.

65th minute: Iran has a chance! SAMAN GHODDOS MISSES, BUT THE GAME SHOULD BE LEVEL! As a few unlucky bobbles fall to white jerseys, it’s a defensive disaster for the United States. Ghoddos gets an opportunity to shoot at the top-right corner, but shoots wide. Too little curl. That is a major setback for the US.
Weston McKennie is now off and Kellyn Acosta starts for the Americans. England, which will win the group, scores once more thanks to Marcus Rashford.

62nd minute: Both teams have been hunting for opportunities over the last five to ten minutes, but neither has threatened on goal. Iran had countered to the right when Tim Ream made a crucial clearing.

Kellyn Acosta is getting set to replace Weston McKennie, who appears exhausted, when he comes off the bench, according to Gregg Berhalter. Ramin Rezaeian falls to the ground wailing in anguish in the meantime, but rises to his feet once the referee calls his bluff. It appeared to be unpleasant from his response, but it was all a bluff.

55th minute: Mehdi Taremi almost outran Cameron Carter-Vickers along the finish line, but Matt Turner caught the ball. The moment Carter-Vickers halted, Taremi was able to wiggle his way back onto the ball, but it was already too late. Carter-Vickers had initially walled Taremi off and had done well to gain strong positions.

52nd minute: USA, chance! In front of goal, Sergino Dest almost scores, but his header misses the mark! Great defending from halftime replacement Saman Ghoddos for Sardar Azmoun.

In the 48th minute, Alireza Beiranvand has the space covered and blocks Josh Sargent’s hard shot from a tight angle, which goes straight into his stomach.

An update on Christian Pulisic, who has an abdominal injury, is provided on the FOX broadcast. Not shocking to see Alireza Beiranvand’s goal-bound knee strike him square in the stomach.

47th minute: Early in the half, both teams have a half-chance, but it is stopped on both ends.

In the other game, England scored a goal immediately after the break to take the lead, and a few minutes later Phil Foden added a second. They will almost certainly advance to the group’s top. Wales’ Gareth Bale was replaced at the break.

46th minute: If you’re a supporter of the United States, there is one change, and it’s not the one you want to hear. As the second half is about to begin, Brenden Aaronson is entering the game in place of Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic made his mark; it’s time for everyone else to follow suit.

Iran Vs USA Results

USA 1-0 Iran at halftime

Even though the game is far from done, the Americans have made the crucial breakthrough and have been playing better during the first 45 minutes. Christian Pulisic’s goal is a turning point since the American attacker risked his life to score a goal that will define his career.

However, the US has to hold onto its lead and perhaps even gain another. Under Gregg Berhalter, the United States has performed better in the first half but worse after the break. For the youthful USA team, this will be a significant test.

Iran was soundly defeated in the first half and will require adjustments to maximise the few attacking opportunities they have. If they can’t get an equaliser, they’ll be under a lot of pressure as the game goes on.

Iran versus. USA: First Half: USA 45+6 GOAL REJECTED! Tim Weah is offside even though he has the ball in the goal! The through-ball from midfield was great, but it’s EXTREMELY tight. He was only a few inches offside, which is quite close, yet play is waved on, indicating that the technology supported the judgement.

Iran has to make a substitution at 45+3 minutes because left-back Milad Mohammadi must leave the field after visibly pulling something when straining for the ball. Ali Karimi has taken his place.

45th minute: USA, chance! The two-on-two was blown! Tim Weah and Josh Sargent are free with only two defenders after Tyler Adams sprang them, but they are unable to create any room, and Weah’s final ball is intercepted. Iran’s on-the-break defence is outstanding.

Tyler Adams receives a yellow card in the 43rd minute for pushing over Haji Safi to halt a counterattack while his team is still down a man. His first of the competition.

To roaring cheers, Pulisic makes a comeback. The American president is facing a crucial situation and will try his best to get through it.

Christian Pulisic is still lying on the ground inside the goal. For the United States, who can ill afford to lose a player of Pulisic’s calibre, it is a major worry. The United States is down to 10 men as the game briefly resumes. Gregg Berhalter must make a crucial choice. The team doctor is assisting Pulisic as he struggles to get behind the goal. He is exerting every effort to get better and return. As Pulisic jogs back to the fourth official, Berhalter orders his players to slow down.

Goal at minute 38! USA ! THEY HAVE MADE THE BREACH! Sergino Dest makes a spectacular switch from Weston McKennie to the right, and his cross finds Christian Pulisic racing toward the goal for the finish.

Pulisic feels hurt because he can’t celebrate his amazing achievement. He appeared to take a knee from the goalkeeper straight to the middle. It’s unfortunate because this is a pivotal period in the American star’s career.

Christian Pulisic misses the second USA corner of the game in the 37th minute. He has been taking turns inexcusably badly for years. He performed admirably against England, giving reason for optimism, but he is now again dreadful. He drives the ball straight but short of the necessary height, struggling to outmuscle the first man.

33rd minute: USA Chance! Tim Weah misses once more. He shoots the opportunity high despite having a golden chance from the top of the penalty area! He should have made a bigger effort since no one could have stopped him. The United States is applying more pressure, but there is currently nothing to show for it.

In the 31st minute, Nourollahi is impeded by Carter-Vickers so that Turner may collect a through pass while the Iranian midfielder is down and seeking medical attention. Gregg Berhalter is conversing with the fourth official as Iran will undoubtedly waste time throughout the game, as is to be expected.

30th minute: A long period of consistent pressure from the United States has produced a few opportunities. Sergino Dest scored the most recent goal, which he made for himself by weaving among defenders from the right wing up to the top of the penalty box. His attempt, which came from a decent position, was stopped by a defender.

27th minute: USA chance! Oh Tim Weah, you’ve got to win that one! Josh Sargent’s shot bounces straight up into the air and falls to Weah, who has just the goalkeeper to beat. After some contemplation, he shoots straight towards Alireza Beiranvand. tremendous opportunity lost

Christian Pulisic is in a perfect position to receive a cutback from Yunus Musah in the 23rd minute, but the ball fizzes harder than he anticipated and lands right in his face. Ouch.

Tim Ream took an AWESOME action in the 20th minute to halt a potential Iran onslaught. Sardar Azmoun would have been in on goal if he hadn’t arrived. The Fulham veteran has played flawlessly the entire competition.

17th minute: USA chance! Sergino Dest’s brilliant ball into the box to end the U.S. pressure almost finds a mark, but nobody can get there in time to meet it! The ball squirts past Josh Sargent and Christian Pulisic simultaneously.

11th minute: Christian Pulisic connects with a Yunus Musah cross with his head, but his leap was unbalanced, resulting in a feeble effort that was directly at Alireza Beiranvand.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was added to the starting lineup for today’s game, is addressed by Tyler Adams. The directive appeared to be for CCV to take a step back and prevent the striker from receiving the ball. Later, he actually does that.

9th minute: USA chance! Alireza Beiranvand throws a punch after a first cross into the penalty area that pops into the air. Yunus Musah ultimately receives the bouncing ball near the top of the penalty area, but he rushes his shot and launches it miles into the air.

8th minute: Tyler Adams is off to a great start in this game. He is first spotted with the ball out wide left on an offensive possession before racing back and blocking an Iran break. He is very crucial to this American side.

5th minute: The U.S. defence is on edge as Iran has a wonderful possession that enters the penalty area, but many deliveries miss their targets. Iran got the game going with a lot of vigour, followed closely by the United States.

In the second minute, Christian Pulisic gets a great opportunity to score on the break, one-on-one with Josh Sargent in support, but instead of passing to Sargent, he keeps running with the ball and is taken down by Majid Hosseini. Although Pulisic made a fantastic tackle, he needs to pass the ball.
Iran already has a fantastic free-kick on the right side of the field in the first minute, but Tyler Adams heads it away. Early possession is being held by the Asian side.

KICKOFF! We’ve started! Reminder: Iran needs a win or a tie, and the USA must triumph. There are no more tiebreakers to worry about after this.
